US Embassy Tokyo Visa Appointments

As of March 18, 2011, US Embassy Tokyo advises that they are only processing emergency visa cases due to the recent events in Japan. Some nonimmigrant visa applicants with approaching deadlines, such as students, and individuals already scheduled for nonimmigrant work visa appointments may keep their interview appointments.  See below for more detail. Japan Earthquake: Visa Extension

On March 11, 2011, USCIS issued a notice for Japanese and other Pacific region nationals stranded in the US due to the recent earthquakes and tsunami permitting a visa extension in certain situations. Those who have exceeded or are about to exceed their authorized stay in the US may be permitted up to an additional 30 days to depart from the US.
