US Embassy New Delhi: Interview Waiver Pilot Program

The US Embassy New Delhi has announced that under a new initiative, in select circumstances, qualified foreign visitors who have been interviewed and thoroughly screened in conjunction with a prior US visa application may be eligible to renew their US visas without undergoing another interview. The Interview Waiver Pilot Program allows consular officers to waive interviews for qualified temporary visa applicants worldwide who are renewing their B-1 visa or B-2 visa within 48 months of the expiration of their previously held B-1 or B-2 visa, and within the same classification as the previous visa. US Consulate Chennai Ends IV Processing

The US Consulate Chennai will no longer process Immigrant Visa petitions (for the Green Card) as of January 01, 2012. The US Embassy New Delhi and US Consulate Mumbai will become the only acceptance centers in India for IV processing. An Immigrant Visa (IV) allows an individual to live and work in the US permanently, and provides an opportunity to obtain US Citizenship. US Consulate Mumbai Moves to New Bandra Kurla Facility

The US Consulate Mumbai moves in November 2011 from Lincoln House in Breach Candy and the American Center in Churchgate to its new facility in the Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC). The new US Consulate General at BKC reflects the expansion in US-India relations, and features expanded space for consulate operations. The number of interview windows for services to visa applicants and US citizens will increase significantly, from 13 to 44. The US Consulate Mumbai location at Lincoln House will close its doors to the public on November 15, 2011, and reopen on November 21, 2011, at the new BKC location. The Consulate cannot provide visa services between November 15 and 21, 2011. (more…)

US Consulates India Increase Access

To increase the convenience of the US visa process for Indian nationals, the US Consulates India are increasing access to consular services. Specifically, the US Embassy New Delhi and Consulates General Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Hyderabad are now accepting US visa applications from throughout India at all visa facilities, regardless of the applicant’s home address or city of residence.
